We’d discuss that together once you’ve told me a bit more about yourself and what you want to achieve.
I am happy to work to an agreed number of sessions, so you know the amount you will be spending. Or we can work in an ongoing way, where you simply let me know when you’re ready to make the next session the last one.
People often ask how many sessions they will need. Some clients come for a few weeks, others for many months. Either way, you can decide how long you want the counselling to last. It may take some time to reach a deeper understanding of the issues, before finding the most appropriate changes or ways to resolve difficulties. The number of sessions may depend on your desired outcome and the length of the evolving conversation. But we can monitor this as we go along, so you feel in control of the process.
When starting therapy, I ask clients to commit to an ending session in person so that we can wrap up the work together satisfactorily. Many clients say that endings in social or family relationships can be difficult, so that’s why I uphold attendance at an ending session as an important part of our working relationship.

For sessions on Zoom:
I ask for payment by online bank transfer before you arrive at the appointment. I also provide an online payment link if you want to pay by card. For sessions in person:
The same options are available to pay by bank transfer or by card payment link. For attendance in person, you can also pay by cash if you prefer.Either way, it’s really helpful if you pay by the start of the session, so the admin has been taken care of, which leaves us focusing only on you for the session conversation.

For therapy funded by private health insurance, Sarah is registered with many providers including Cigna, Healix, Vitality, Aetna, Aviva. Referrals from Bupa or AXA are no longer being taken.
Please let me know in advance if you’d like to claim on your health insurance, so we can make arrangements for your sessions to be invoiced directly to your insurance company.
Otherwise, I can invoice you so that you can claim on your policy for reimbursement.
If private health insurance is being used, I ask you to obtain from your insurer the billing details such as your membership number and authorisation code. You will also need to check that your insurer accepts invoices where VAT is added by the provider.
Please note that you will be liable for any shortfall in reimbursement by the insurer, such as but not limited to a policy excess or exceeding the level of cover on your policy if there is a financial limit to your claim.

My cancellation policy is 3 working days’ notice, otherwise the appointment fee is payable. I often find that I am holding diary time in good faith for much longer than the notice that clients may give for cancellation, so this policy helps to address the balance of risk and commitment.
